News | MN2S | BBC R1 Dance takeover

Ahead of their annual Ibiza Weekend between 1st and 3rd August, BBC Radio 1’s dance music takeover has begun. Since 25th July a special online R1 Dance Music stream has been broadcasting the best in dance music and will continue until 6pm on Friday 1st  August, at which point Radio 1 will transmit live from the white isle. The line-up for the Ibiza Weekend can be found here.

The programming for the dance takeover features a variety Ibiza weekend of dance orientated shows, including some classic essential mixes, a number of live sets from the last Ibiza Weekend and a series of label or music publication takeovers.

Annie Mac began proceedings on Friday with an hour mix before handing over to Defected who had the honour of curating the first takeover. Saturday was dedicated to essential mixes, while Sunday focused on the Radio 1 Ibiza weekend 2013.

On Monday Hospital Records took control and today it’s Food Music’s turn to takeover. For the rest of the week, dance music fans can look forward to shows put together by Resident Advisor, The House of Coxhead and Black Butter.

Among the various takeovers and essential mixes will be a number of other exciting features. These include a dedicated segment to dance anthems and airtime committed to BBC introducing artists. The track listing will be available on the BBC Radio 1 website throughout the week.
